Trim Road Realignment (OR174 to Innes Road)

The City of Ottawa has initiated the design assignment for the realignment of Trim Road, from OR174 to Innes Road. A Schedule ‘C’ Environmental Assessment (EA) for this project was previously completed in September 1998 with subsequent Addendum in August 2002.

The project limits include:  Trim Road (OR174 to Innes Road), Frank Kenny Road (Trim Road to 1.4 km south of Innes Road), St. Joseph Boulevard (OR174 off-ramp to Trim Road) and Old Montreal Road (Trim Road to Dairy Drive). The proposed work involves widening the roadway to 4-lanes including bike lanes and sidewalks / multi-use pathways, and installing watermains and storm sewers.

Construction is scheduled to commence in 2012.
Trim Road Realignment Overview

As mandated by City Council Directive (2007) and the City’s Transportation Master Plan (2008), roundabout assessments were performed for the major intersections in the project area. Intersections selected for implementation include: Trim / Taylor Creek & Dairy, Trim / St. Joseph & Old Montreal, Trim / Springridge & Portobello, Trim & Frank Kenny / (Old) Trim, and Frank Kenny / Innes. In order to comply with the Municipal Class EA process, an addendum is required to reflect the inclusion of roundabouts to the design.

In addition, to accommodate projected traffic volumes, it was determined that an auxiliary right-turn lane is warranted at the Trim / Innes intersection. This item will also be included in the EA addendum.

A meeting is being held to provide information to the residents and affected property owners regarding the proposed works and to receive input and comments from the public and interested parties.  Please note that only the proposed changes presented in the Addendum are open for review.
