Cardinal Creek Community Association (CCCA) Neighbourhood Watch Program (NWP)
The CCCA NWP was launched in June 2024 and became active in July 2024 after knocking on 575 doors in the Springridge subdivisions. It was expanded to the Royal Ridge area shortly thereafter. As a result, the CCCA NWP is currently comprised of 475 members and 58 Block Captains which is the largest active NWP in Ottawa. The CCCA works in partnership with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) to prevent crimes and enhance public safety in our community. Constable Marc Leroux was our Community Policing Officer (CPO) and we are currently waiting for the appointment of a new CPO.
There are 4 key leaders in the CCCA NWP: Coordinator; Sean Crossan; Deputy Coordinators: Marc Abounassar, Farid Kamal and Geneveive Labrosse. We work as a team to promote, educate and communicate with members of our community about our NWP and work in partnership with OPS to reduce crime in Cardinal Creek.

Two OPS-CCCA NWP Annual General Meetings were held in September 2024 and September 2025 with over 50 NWP Block Captains, OPS Community Policing Officers and other community association representatives from across Orleans in attendance. The purpose of these AGMs is to provide an update on criminal activity within the NWP area and strategies to reduce crime. (Photo provided by Sean Crossan)
Crime has dropped from 47 automotive thefts in 2023 to 2 within 1 year of operationalizing our NWP. Two automotive thieves were arrested. There were 16 crimes reported in OPS Crime Map from July 1, 2024 to September 3, 2025 which is a significant decrease for our NWP area.
Five OPS-CCCA NWP Public Information Sessions were held to educate residents about how to prevent crime and enhance public safety in Cardinal Creek. These public information sessions were on topics such as:
- Preventing Automobile Theft (January 2024)
- Home Surveillance Systems (February 2024)
- Preventing Online Frauds and Scams (April 2024)
- Ottawa Crime Stoppers (October 2025)
- OPS Crime Map Tool Training (November 2025)
In order to encourage the sharing of videos and other suspicious activities in our NWP area, the CCCA has created a Closed Facebook (FB) page. This FB page is only accessible to registered members of the CCCA NWP.
We will continue to be vigilant because with the arrival of LRT and the opening of the Trim Road LRT station, we are expecting increased criminal activity within 2 kilometers of this station.
