Ontario Investing Over $5 Million for New Health Hub in Orléans
Province Putting Patients First Through Improving Access to Community Health Services
As part of the province’s $51.8 billion investment in health care this year, Ontario is investing over $5 million in one-time capital planning funding for a new health hub in Orléans.
The new health hub will consolidate selected services from three hospitals and four community health service providers onto one site in Orléans. When complete, patients in the Orléans area will benefit from bilingual, integrated and patient-centered services closer to home including:
- Ambulatory care
- Mental health and wellness
- Geriatric support and wellness
- Diagnostic imaging
- Active rehabilitation
The new Orléans Health Hub builds on the province’s work to support community hub development by bringing services together to better meet the needs of the community.
Increasing investments in health care is part of the government’s plan to build a better Ontario through its Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care, which provides patients with faster access to the right care; better home and community care; the information they need to live healthy; and a health care system that is sustainable for generations to come.

- Today’s investment is in addition to an increase of over $19 million in operational funding that Ontario is providing to Ottawa area hospitals this year.
- Phase 1 of the Orléans Health Hub is a collaborative partnership including Hôpital Montfort, Champlain Community Care Access Centre, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa, Bruyère Continuing Care, the Youth Services Bureau, the Champlain LHIN and Ottawa Public Health.
- The number of nurses in the city of Ottawa rose by 883 (from 10,817 to 11,700) between 2010 and 2014.
- The number of physicians in the city of Ottawa has increased by 349 (from 2,595 to 2,944), and by 452 (from 3,045 to 3,497) within the Champlain LHIN between 2010 and 2014.
- Ontario will increase funding to hospitals this year by more than $345 million province wide.
- The province plans to invest $12 billion over 10 years in hospital capital grants to build modern infrastructure. Approximately 35 major hospital projects are now underway or in planning across Ontario.
- Ontario’s health care budget has increased from $47.6 billion in 2012–13 to a total of $51.8 billion in 2016–17.
- This year’s $51.8 billion investment in health care is a 2.1 per cent increase over last year, which is greater than the rate of inflation.
