Coyotes
Coyotes have been spotted in and around the Cardinal Creek area for several days. They were spotted in a field on Watters Road East yesterday afternoon around 3:15 p.m. as they are looking for food (e.g., rabbits, small domestic animals, garbage, etc...). One of the coyotes is injured and seems to have mange.

If you see the coyotes, please call the City of Ottawa Police immediately at 613-236-1222 Extension 7500 (Communications Centre) so that they can manage this situation.

PS: We previously sent an email to residents regarding coyotes.

Ottawa Outdoor Rinks Statistical Analysis
The CCCA has analyzed statistical data and found the number of children per outdoor ice rink, per ward, in the City of Ottawa. Essentially, the data shows significant disproprotions in outdoor ice surface availability for 0-19 yrs children between the wards, and also disproportionate number of outdoor rinks per children population in the various wards. The CCCA hopes this data helps the City balance the needs of the population.

See the graphical information as prepared by the CCCA.

Outdoor ice rink operations expand in Cardinal Creek, thanks to private sectorsponsorships

Orléans, Ontario -- Amid the uncertainty over Ottawa city staff's 2009 draft budget proposal to cut funding grants to local outdoor rink operators, one community group is announcing its plans to expand operations this season.

The Cardinal Creek Community Association (CCCA) will be opening a new outdoor ice rink at Valin Park, in the Oakridge Gate / East Village subdivision, thanks to over $4,200 in sponsorships the group has secured from four local businesses.  The Association will also continue to operate and maintain its puddle rink at Cassia Park, in the Springridge subdivision.
