Latest News August 19, 2007 School Safety Awareness Day The local school boards, in conjunction with the School Bus Operators of the Ottawa Region, will be presenting a School Bus Safety Awareness Day on Sunday, August 26, 2007 for all first-time bus riders. This co-operative venture will be held concurrently at five different school sites in the Region. In Orléans, our sites are (click on the link to go to the registration page): St. Peter High School, 750 Charlemagne Blvd., Orléans École Beatrice-Desloges, 1999 Provence Avenue, Orléans (French presentation site) The program is geared primarily for parents and children new to school bus transportation. All children entering the school system for the first time in the fall, or new residents to the area, should plan to attend. The day's activities are suitable for all elementary school-age children and everyone is welcome.   Take the time to prepare your children for a safe and more comfortable school bus ride. August 19, 2007 Orleans Lions Club - Charity Bingo Bus The Orleans Lions Club is pleased to announce the initiation of a free bus service from Orleans to Rockland every Tuesday night. This bus will bring passengers to the Charity Bingo we run in conjunction with the Rockland Lions Club. All proceeds from this bingo are used by the two clubs to fund their charitable works in the community and also to support Lions International works around the world. August 19, 2007 Public Meeting - Rezoning and Site Plan for 2000 Valin St. The City of Ottawa will be holding a public meeting Wednesday, September 5 from 7 to 9 pm in the Program Room - Ray Friel Centre (1585 Tenth Line Road) to address the Claridge Homes rezoning and site plan proposal at 2000 Valin Street - the south west corner of Valin Street and Trim Road (beside Lucky Fortune Restaurant, behind existing townhouses). The zoning request would change the existing zoning from CCN - Commercial Convenience Neighbourhood to R5A-X2 Residential Apartment Low Density Expection 2 (3 storey condos).  In total there are proposed eight 12-unit building with 144 parking spaces primarily located in between the buildings.  Four of the buildings would front along Trim Road and the other four in behind.  The main driving aisle would run through the middle of the the property between Valin Street and Trim Road. The meeting was originally scheduled for July 18 and was postponed until the fall to unsure public participation.
