Springridge Tree Planting - May 26

Call for Volunteers

Families, high school students, boy scouts, girl guides, everyone who wants to lend a hand, please volunteer to plant trees along the Cardinal Creek path to help strengthen our environment and beautify our neighbourhood.

When: Saturday, May 26th, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Where: Entrance to Cardinal Creek Path on Bergamot in Springridge

What: Native tree seedlings to improve biodiversity and help fight global warming.

The Cardinal Creek community Association has received a grant of 500 tree seedlings from the City of Ottawa to help reforest areas that have been impacted by development in our community. All members of the public looking for some fresh air and exercise are welcome to participate.

This is a valuable lesson for children and a superb vehicle for community spirit. Dress for the weather. We will be planting, rain or shine. Long sleeve shirts, pants, hats, work or gardening gloves and hiking or work boots are recommended. If possible bring a clearly labeled bucket and shovel, along with water and snacks.

Please register before May 24, 2007 by e-mailing us your name, phone number and the number of volunteers in your group. Contact Bruce Hollands at: environment@cardinalcreek.org
