Cardinal Creek community invited to - Clean the Ravine

Orleans, Ontario -- The Cardinal Creek Community Association (CCCA) invites local residents to show their community pride by cleaning up our local parks, public paths, streets and open spaces this Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.

The CCCA-sponsored Community Spring Clean-up event is being held in conjunction with Capital Cleanup Day, part of the City of Ottawa's "Spring Cleaning the Capital" campaign running from April 15 to May 15, 2007.

Residents are invited to pick up their City-supplied garbage bags and gloves at various locations in the Spring Ridge, Oakridge Gate and East Village communities (Trim Rd area, between St. Joseph Blvd and Innes Rd). A listing of distribution centres is available at www.cardinalcreek.org/index.php?pr=Spring_Cleanup.

This event qualifies for high school students seeking to add to their Community Involvement Program volunteer hours.

The CCCA reminds participants to wear hats, pants and long sleeved shirts. The CCCA also cautions that children must be supervised at all times, and must never touch broken glass, broken wood, metal, needles, or household hazardous waste.

Following the clean-up, there will be free pizza and pop for all participants involved in the clean-up.

The CCCA would like to thank the City of Ottawa and Councillor Bob Monette for the financial assistance to make this event possible.

NOTICE TO MEDIA -- To schedule a photo opportunity and/or media interview, please contact CCCA President Sean Crossan at 613-841-0348.

CCCA website gets a RSS Feed

To help you keep up-to-date on CCCA information without having to continually check the website for new information, we have introduced a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) news feed to the website.

What is RSS?  RSS is a relatively new comer to the internet (first introduced in 1999).  It is a means of transmitting and updating news in an automated way.  Programs such as Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook 2007 have built-in tools which will check for updates of these syndication feeds so you don't have to keep checking the website for updates.  Outlook 2007, for example, will deliver a message to your RSS Feeds folder which looks much like an email.  You can read the title and the short description, then if you want to look at more about the article, clicking on it will take you right to the full article on the website.

To subscribe to a RSS newsfeed, click on the  image on the main Home page of the CCCA web site.  If your browser supports RSS feeds, it will display the complete list of all of the current news articles and then give you the option to Subscribe to the feed.

Or, if you have Outlook 2007, you can setup a new RSS news feed from the RSS tab in Account Settings (under the Tools menu).  Create a new RSS feed with the following address:  http://www.cardinalcreek.org/ccca.rss  Outlook 2007 gives you one of the most automated ways to keep up-to-date with newsfeeds.

Alternatively, there are many RSS news readers on the market.  Do a search on your favorite search engine for RSS news readers.

If you have questions or comments about the RSS news feed from this site, please use the contact page to reach us.

Community Spring Clean up - April 28th!

On Saturday, April 28th our 3rd Annual Community Spring Clean Up will take place.

In order to make the event as inclusive as possible, we need volunteers in each part of our community whose homes will function as distribution centres for the garbage bags and gloves needed for the community clean up.

As well, you will help direct the efforts of community volunteers on April 28th to help ensure that all public parks, paths and open spaces in your part of the community are cleaned up that day.

Please go to our special Spring Clean-up page to volunteer, or check who the Street Captain is for your area.

Please respond no later than end of day on April 11th.

Thanks in advance.
