community volunteer opportunity

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is a registered charity, located in Manotick.  We have trained and provided guide dogs to Canadians who are visually impaired since 1984.

In December, we will host a holiday gift wrapping kiosk at Place d’ Orléans.  The space has been donated by the mall, and 100% of the revenue from this fundraiser will be directed to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

We’re seeking volunteers to help at the gift wrapping kiosk between December 1 and December 24, 2017.  I am hopeful that you might be able to spread the word for us.  We invite residents of Orléans to sign up and volunteer during the holidays to support our cause.

Volunteer requirements:
-ability to wrap gifts/parcels in a neat fashion (you don’t have to be an expert, but must have some ability – people are paying and expect at least a decent job)
-availability of at least one hour
-no minimum or maximum number of shifts; it’s based on availability and openings
-good communication skills in dealing with the public – be friendly and courteous
-math skills and organization skills are assets
-bilingualism is an asset, but not necessary

Anyone wishing to sign up may use this link to view our online scheduler – 2017 Gift Wrapping Volunteer Sign Up. The online scheduler is always live and updated so people can sign up now or anytime through to December 24, even last minute.  Individuals may also sign up or get more information by phone at 613-692-7777 or email events@guidedogs.ca.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
